From the curious to the cuddly, meet the stars of the farm

It’s not just the flowers that make Lavandula feel alive. Our beloved animals do too.

You’ll find alpacas meandering through the paddocks, Highland cows munching on hay, honking geese parading, and emus, guinea fowl, and pheasants wandering the property. They’re not just a hit with the kids, we welcome plenty of adults who come from afar just to meet our lovely furry friends.

Where to find them

Many of our animals are free to roam and do their own thing and others have lovely homes in the paddocks. We don’t run petting zoos, just a working farm where animals are respected, well cared for, and central to the land’s ecosystem.

The animals move about the farm throughout the day, but you’ll usually find the chooks and geese in the chook shed, and our alpacas and highland cows in our back paddocks (down toward Maria’s). Bring your curiosity, and maybe a camera.

What animals live at Lavandula Farm?

You’ll meet Highland and Swiss Brown cows, emus, alpacas, bantam chickens, geese, guinea fowl, and more. All part of the farm’s lively family.

Can we feed or pat the animals?

You’re welcome to observe and gently interact where appropriate (like patting the chooks or watching the cows graze) but feeding is not allowed to ensure the animals’ health and wellbeing.

Is this suitable for toddlers or young children?

Absolutely! This is one of our most popular experiences for families. Kids love spotting the animals and learning their names.

Are the animals always out?

Most of the animals are in open paddocks or enclosures visible to the public, but their exact location changes depending on the time of day and farm operations.

Can school groups or birthday parties visit the animals?

Yes! We host many group visits. Just get in touch ahead of time so we can plan your visit and make it extra special.

Lavandula is a working farm, historic property, and family-friendly destination tucked in the hills of Daylesford.

For over 30 years, we’ve been sharing the beauty of our gardens, food, lavender paddocks, and old stone buildings with locals and visitors alike.

We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Lavandula stands. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and recognise the ongoing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country, culture, and community.
